PhysioGraphic main frame

The screen capture below shows PhysioGraphic’s main window with an active document. The items described in this chapter are components of that interface. Later chapters deal with how to create a new patient folder, making an evaluation and writing documents. So the major items in this interface are listed as follows:

The Work Area is the area of the window where you can create and edit PhysioGraphic document. When creating or opening a document, a new window appears inside the work area. To change the size of the work area, drag a border or corner of the main window. You can dock many of the bars or undock and float them to enlarge the work area. As every standard windows, three buttons may be found at the top right of the document window: minimize, maximize and close. By clicking the maximize button, the document window is integrated with the PhysioGraphic Interface. By clicking on the same button, you restore the initial size of the same window.

The title bar, located at the top of the interface, displays the PhysioGraphic icon, the program name, the name of the document being edited and the standard Windows buttons used to either maximize, minimize or close the PhysioGraphic Interface.

Right below the title bar is located the menu bar. The menus that are available depend on what is open in the work space. All commands related to word processing may be found in this menu bar. Therefore it is important to highlight that a command might be disabled if some required conditions are not met. For example you are attempting to change the property of table’s cell but the caret is not inside a table. A caret is the name for the cursor that represents the current text insertion point in a window.

Several toolbars are located right below the menu bar. These toolbars give you access to the most common features pertaining to word processing. It lets you more easily work with an active document. If disabled, it means that a condition to perform a certain task is not met. The list of buttons is summarized as follows:

A ruler is embedded in the frame of each document window. The measuring in centimeter allows you to position an object with respect to the page’s width. This is the only tool to solve all problems regarding the vertical alignment when formatting a document as a whole such as indentation, tabs, page width, width of a table’s cell width...

The status bar, located along the bottom of the PhysioGraphic interface, displays various information such as the status of Caps and Num buttons on your keyboard, the line number where the insertion point is...

The scroll bar allows to scroll a document within the frame of its window. This bar located along the right side of the window has at each end a button to scroll the document. When scrolling, the insertion point remains unchanged.

The PhysioGraphic toolbar, initially placed on the left side of the application, gathers all features regarding physiotherapy and patient management. It has been designed as shown below to ease the learning process of how to use PhysioGraphic. The rest of the features dealing with word processing are found in either the menu bar or the tool bars introduced earlier. Furthermore all features listed in the PhysioGraphic tool bar are classified in four different themes, and funny icons boost the productivity of every PhysioGraphic user.
